Busty and the Bass
‘Eddie’
Arts & Crats

Montreal’s 8-headed funk-soul-jazz collective Busty and the Bass are back with a new single for the track ‘Eddie,’ the title track of their new album, complete with a Matisse-influenced animated video, directed by June Barrie and animation by Vincent Hurtu.  The track is a soulful, bass-heavy ballad, with Alistair Blu’s vocals dialling in on Macy Gray.

Sonically, this is some neo-soul, expertly crafted from the beat to the horns, as Blu pays homage to the friend who was always in a hurry, grew up too fast, and the bad things began happening.  You could get lost in Milo Johnson’s bassline here.  And so here, we get Busty and the Bass showing off their chops, their genuine love of the music. And it is a fine representation of their stunning sophomore album.
